Sadness and anxiety are part of normal human experience, and it can be difficult to know if your symptoms have gotten to the point where you should seek out help. It is reasonable to seek out help if your symptoms are causing significant distress, if they are disrupting your functioning in relationships, work, or school, or if they have been going on for several weeks or longer. If your symptoms are mild, but you are feeling persistently stuck or dissatisfied in your life, that is also a good reason to make an appointment.

This depends on the type of treatment and your needs. When starting a new medication, or adjusting medications, we would typically meet every two to four weeks to evaluate the effectiveness of the medication. Once you are on a stable medication and your symptoms are well treated, we would typically meet every one to six months depending on your needs. For psychotherapy (talk therapy), we would typically meet once a week, and reevaluate the need for ongoing therapy every few months.
